women?

I'm sure you must be wondering why i choose this title. well?

Anyway, I would say this year, Good Friday and Easter had a totally different approach to me and I would now proudly say that Easter is not just about Easter eggs!

To those of you who ain't christian nor catholic, Good Friday also called Holy Friday, Black Friday, or Great Friday, is a religious holiday observed primarily by adherents to Christianity commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary. The holiday is observed during Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduum on the Friday preceding Easter Sunday, and often coincides with the Jewish observance of Passover.

According to Christian scripture, Jesus was resurrected from the dead three days after his crucifixion. We celebrate this resurrection on Easter Day or Easter Sunday.

So, let me continue. I feel that this year, i felt the presence of God. Yeah.. no joking. Although i did not fast this year, was in national service, how am i suppose to fast there? with all the activities.. no way i can go without food, i still felt it all. It all started from the day i went for 'way of the cross' at st.francis church in Melaka few days after i came home from national service. I noticed the prayers are actually very meaningful. Most about our lives and how we lead it all without thinking.

Then during Good Friday, did the reading at st.peters church and coincident the text i got suit what i needed most in life (1 Thess.5:4-11) you could check it out if you want.

Procession was next and everyone held candles in their hands. The longer the candle, the more the sins.. haha! just kidding. its just the same but some people just prefer longer candles.

Oh yea, have just read April's blog and i would have to disagree with what she mention there saying that people worship the statue. i had asked mum about it and she says that they use it to recall that that is god and they do NOT worship it. Had did some research too! Catholics use statues, paintings, and other artistic devices to recall the person or thing depicted. Just as it helps to remember one’s mother by looking at her photograph, so it helps to recall the example of the saints by looking at pictures of them. Catholics also use statues as teaching tools. In the early Church they were especially useful for the instruction of the illiterate. Many Protestants have pictures of Jesus and other Bible pictures in Sunday school for teaching children. Catholics also use statues to commemorate certain people and events, much as Protestant churches have three-dimensional nativity scenes at Christmas.

so, i think that is enough to prove my point of view.

Went for Easter mid night mass yesterday. The homily yesterday was funny though. Father Moses was telling that women are important but 'dumb' people. know why? because women are gifted with the big gap. no not that gap you are thinking.. but the gap of the mouth! yeah.. god gave us that huge gap! just for us to talk and convince people but in the scriptures women just did not have the correct time and place. Women did not think how to remove the tomb rock *how stupid can they be* but instead they just went there and luckily the rock was moved!
oh ya! fr. also told us not to trust women Architect! wad?!
BUT! guy! u have to thank girls because we complete you. muahaha!! IF not for the women in you life.. your mum, u would not even exist in this world!
so, now u know why i chose this title..

  1. hahhaa... if you go for the good friday in the afternoon in st peters.. den you'll know what i'm talking about.... if you see people who are NON-Catholics and doing what they do to jesus as what they did to their own god... then you'll know what i mean... I am not saying that statues are a no no... but a statue is to remind us of the presence of Jesus. That god so love the world that he gave his only son to us. But i am not really comfortable when the NON-believers of Christ did that to the only thing that remind us of jesus. If they stare at jesus, if they touch jesus, and reflect upon it then fine. But going around it, and worshiping it, I don't think it' right at all. We humans need an object to make us concentrate. So the olden catholics invented statues and paintings, right?
But did they ever mention that we are suppose to kiss the statue's feet and all???

What i meant was i am not against statues or symbols in church. But i do not agree with people idolizing the statues in church.
